Staff Security Operations Engineer

Have you ever wanted to help build an operations team focused on cloud security? Develop a charter and work with a manager to staff it with engineers who can help accomplish your goals? We should talk!  When you start, you’ll be one of the initial team members who will help build and scale. From day one you’ll help set the vision, define its scope and figure out the best way for us to get there. This is a great opportunity for someone interested in establishing themselves as an autonomous leader.  Apollo has a solid culture of security. But we need you to conduct a GAP analysis of our current information technology systems, write a plan to improve things, and then build a high-functioning team to help make it happen. A deep partnership with our IT Team will be critical. Our goal is to speed up the onboarding of new engineers and cloud systems, improve security, automate everything in sight and create a team that provides other security operations engineers with opportunities to grow their own careers. 

What you'll do:

• Partner with IT to set up Okta as a world-class RBAC system that focuses on security and enables engineers to do their best work while keeping access to a minimum.
• Build out a vulnerability management practice that is comprehensive, automated and produces reports.
• Consult with engineering teams on tools such as Google Cloud(GCP), Vault and CircleCI that could be used to automate or enhance security.
• Interview, partner, and coach security operations engineers who will implement your strategy.
• Develop metrics that will be used for driving additional hires.
• Participate in incident response as needed.
• Participate in audits such as SOC 2.
