IO Global, creator of the Cardano blockchain platform, is searching for a Software Engineer to join its Stablecoin team. The team currently focuses on various types of stablecoins, but is expected to expand its scope to decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols, oracles, and smart-contract-based decentralized applications in general. As a Software Engineer you are responsible for writing high-quality code for our products. You have the exciting challenge of working on cutting-edge research and technology with a focus on market needs.

Your mission

  • Following agile software development practices
  • Working with teams across time zones
  • Working independently on software development tasks
  • Being proactive and requiring minimal supervision or mentoring to complete tasks
  • Reviewing specifications produced by architects and formal methods specialists
  • Contributing to the design of algorithms
  • Writing clean, straightforward, efficient code that satisfies acceptance criteria and specifications
  • Committing often and submitting small pull requests frequently
  • Covering your code with unit, property and integration tests when applicable
  • Reviewing the pull requests of your team mates
  • Fixing bugs in your own code and in legacy code from others
  • Being available in emergencies to fix severe issues on deployed products
  • Integrating software components and third-party libraries
  • Verifying and deploying programs and systems
  • Troubleshooting, debugging and upgrading software
  • Writing documentation for code
  • Writing technical user manuals
  • Improving your knowledge of distributed and concurrent computation
  • Improving your knowledge of the basics of cryptography.

Requirements

Your expertise
  • Degree in computer science is desirable but not essential
  • A minimum of two to three years’ development experience (professional or otherwise) in Haskell, Javascript, Scala, or Rust
  • Experience working with Git and Git workflow
  • Practical experience with agile software development methods
  • Knowledge of functional and object-oriented programming paradigms
  • Two years’ experience with Solidity
  • An understanding of how EVM-based chains work
  • Ability to develop unit and integration tests for smart contracts
  • Experience in using Truffle or HardHat
  • Comfortable using Web3
  • Knowledge of security best practices and common attack vectors for EVM-compatible chains.
