Senior Software Engineer, Frontend (Institutional - Foundations, Prime)

The Institutional Product Group engineers create and maintain a suite of products catering to institutional customers of all sizes from Hedge Funds (Coinbase Prime) to experienced individual traders (Coinbase Advanced Trade) and everything in between. Additional Products include Prime - Custody Only, Prime Web3 Wallet, Commerce and Exchange. Whether the customer needs are trading, staking, governance, custody, web3 operations, or API integrations, Coinbase Institutional has them covered.

The Prime Product Experiences Team builds intricate, complex, and delightful UIs—such as Trading UIs, Transfers Flow UIs, Prime Homepage, Team Policies &  Permissions, and various other product surfaces—that power the experiences for our Institutional clients. You’ll be working closely with BE engineers, designers, and PMs to build world class Prime/Institutional experiences. We’re looking for experienced FE engineers who are extremely proficient in building FE components/UI/UX; care deeply about user experience, UI performance, UI testability, product metrics/analytics; have an eye for detail; and thrive in cross-functional settings. What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties):

• Design secure and highly reliable services to integrate with blockchains and add new cryptocurrency assets to Coinbase, Pro, Custody among other business units.
• The team builds UI components for mobile and web in TypeScript and based on React and React Native. We use Linaria for styling, Percy for visual regression testing, Storybook for developing and testing components in isolation, Docusaurus for our documentation, etc. We integrate heavily with Figma to make the designer/developer collaboration smoother.
• Build a mass market interface for digital currency apps by adding new functionality to existing cryptocurrencies (i.e. staking, voting, predicting).
• Write infrastructural services that provide secure storage, accounting and transactional services to help our customers transfer assets safely.
• Work with engineers, product managers and senior leadership to turn our vision into a tangible roadmap every quarter.

What we look for in you (ie. job requirements):

• You have at least 5 years of experience in software engineering and at least 4 years of experience in developing web apps and shipping user-facing features with JavaScript and modern, component-based JS frameworks like React. 
• You've developed and shipped user-facing features using component-based UI frameworks.
• You’re familiar with current trends and best practices in front-end architecture, including performance, security and usability.
• You’re familiar with product and design lifecycles, and collaborating closely with designers, engineers, and product managers.
• You write high quality, well tested code to meet the needs of your customers.

Nice to haves:

• You've worked on front-end teams in the finance or security space
• You have at least 1 year of experience in developing React Native mobile apps or helped move existing native apps to React Native
