The Staking Validators team is responsible for operating all staking-related nodes at Coinbase.

  • We operate the largest validators fleet in the world: The team’s mandate is to onboard, operate, and optimize proof-of-stake network infrastructure at Coinbase.
  • We build infrastructure to provide the most secure and highest uptime: Observability and monitoring is a cornerstone of the team’s philosophy in order to ensure top-tier uptime and performance.

Unique opportunities on this team:

  • Amazing impact - operate as part of a small pod driving our Ethereum Validators: We split our responsibility by protocol with none being larger than Ethereum! You’re working with a small pod of leaders to drive impact for our largest Validator fleet, with Billions (USD) in ETH staked assets on our validators across the world.  You’re responsible for deploying upgrades and building new features to ensure our fleet operates efficiently, driving industry-leading APY and beyond. You’ll also engage with the Ethereum community and partners looking for new ways to innovate positioning us as leaders across the industry.

As a Senior Blockchain Engineer and Ethereum Pod Member  

  • You’ll manage one or more projects end-to-end, regardless of its size or complexity (e.g. supporting major Ethereum releases and hardforks like the Pectra upgrade that has many critical EIP’s included, researching and supporting deep technical changes within our clients like eth formatting changes, or optimizing local DB performance, etc.).
  • ​​You are accountable for high-quality product launches and smooth project landings using experience-based judgment and proven technologies.
  • You partner with Product to  influence quarterly and long term  roadmaps through various technical proposals.
  • You learn about our Coinbase paved roads and support the best devops / infra practices to improve operation efficiency for Coinbase’s validator fleet.
  • You’ll drive operational excellence work around uptime, security, and yield for your protocol.
  • You’ll work with internal protocol specialists and the external protocol developer community to understand the nuances of the Ethereum network and be in the know of what’s upcoming (e.g. governance proposals, upgrades, breaking changes, etc.).
  • You’re expected to participate in an on-call rotation for all protocols that Coinbase supports, while being a go-to person for Ethereum.
  • You’re expected to help onboard and coach junior engineers.
