Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Institutional - Trading Derivatives)

The Institutional Product Group engineers create and maintain a suite of products catering to institutional customers of all sizes from Hedge Funds (Coinbase Prime) to experienced individual traders (Coinbase Advanced Trade) and everything in between. Additional Products include Prime - Custody Only, Prime Web3 Wallet, Commerce and Exchange. Whether the customer needs are trading, staking, governance, custody, web3 operations, or API integrations, Coinbase Institutional has them covered.

The Institutional Trading Derivatives team enables derivatives trading for Coinbase retail and institutional customers both in the US and internationally. The team built the end-to-end trading platform and owns derivatives lifecycle workflows including execution, risk management, and settlement & clearing. We have exciting strategic new product offerings on the roadmap and are looking for a motivated senior engineer who can help us lead the product development.

What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties):

• Design and implement support for new products
• Create and build new services, reporting, monitoring, tools, frameworks and APIs
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers and senior leadership to turn our vision into a tangible deliverables every quarter
• Mentor team members and help uplift the technical skill set across the team

What we look for in you: 

• You have at least 5 years of experience in software engineering.
• You’ve designed, built, scaled and maintained production services, and know how to compose a service oriented architecture.
• You write high quality, well tested code to meet the needs of your customers.
• You’re passionate about building an open financial system that brings the world together.
