Senior Backend Engineer, AvaCloud

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join the AvaCloud team at Ava Labs. AvaCloud is redefining how businesses launch, manage, and scale Web3 applications on Avalanche L1s. Our mission is to make blockchain simple, powerful, and accessible. The team has already helped leading organizations like J.P. Morgan Kinexys, FIFA, and Nexon’s MapleStory bring innovative products to market—and we’re just getting started.

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you’ll play a key role in building distributed, scalable systems and pioneering new blockchain services that unlock real business value. This is a chance to work on the cutting edge of Web3 infrastructure and help shape the next wave of adoption.

What You’ll Do

• Design & Build: Architect and implement distributed, scalable, and high-performance backend systems that power seamless integration with blockchain networks.
• Smart Contract Integration: Develop and maintain services for smart contract interaction, ensuring reliable and efficient communication between application layers and blockchain protocols.
• Data Infrastructure: Build performant pipelines for blockchain data ingestion and processing, enabling real-time analytics and insights.
• Product Collaboration: Partner closely with product teams to shape new features, offering technical guidance on how to design impactful blockchain solutions.
• Cross-Functional Work: Collaborate with frontend, product, platform, and infrastructure teams to optimize performance and create a world-class developer and end-user experience.
• Technical Leadership: Establish best practices for building and maintaining distributed systems, mentoring peers, and raising the technical bar across the team.
• Innovation: Drive exploration and adoption of cutting-edge blockchain technologies to solve critical challenges for our clients.
  
  

What You’ll Bring

• Education/Experience: BS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• Backend Expertise: 5+ years of backend development, with at least 3 years building large-scale, enterprise-grade distributed systems.
• Languages: Strong experience with Golang (preferred), plus exposure to TypeScript/Node.js is a bonus.
• Cloud Proficiency: Hands-on experience with AWS services (DynamoDB, KMS, SQS, Lambda, etc.). Other cloud environments are a plus.
  
  

Blockchain Knowledge: Prior blockchain or Web3 experience is preferred, but a strong desire to learn and grow in this space is just as valuable.

Salary Range: $158,000 to $198,000

(**This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, a final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. NYC metro candidates are required to be in office 2-3x/week, with exceptions.)
