Senior Accountant

Are you a qualified accountant looking to join an innovative team at the forefront of the web3 game industry? The Merit Circle core team is seeking a proactive and adaptable Senior Accountant to join our growing finance department. 

The position is fully remote, with our various teams covering all time zones. Further, we work based on responsibilities and with varying workloads from one week to the other. We are thus looking for flexibility in our candidate, as you may be required to work and take meetings outside the traditional 9-5 hours. The candidate will have to cooperate closely with the finance team and to a lesser degree with other departments, as finance runs through most of our products and most of the departments. At the same time, the candidate must be able to work independently, as a lot of work is done a-sync and based on individual responsibilities. 

In this role, you'll be instrumental in managing our financial operations, requiring a solid technical understanding of accounting standards, crypto regulation, and tokenization. The ideal candidate will have both personal experience with cryptocurrencies and professional experience within the fund or crypto industries. Interest in and passion for web3 gaming would also add value to our mission of revolutionising gaming through blockchain technology. 

As a Senior Accountant, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to: 

• Track and classify blockchain transactions using third-party tools and blockchain explorers
• Prepare financial statements
• Aggregate and present financial information to management and external parties
• Communicate with external parties on financial reporting, including auditors, administrators, tax, and legal advisors
• Support in formulating internal accounting policies across various structures
• Assist during the audit process
• Provide other departments with timely and relevant financial information
• Stay updated on ongoing developments in crypto and accounting regulations
• Manage accounts and wallets

• Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CPA)
• Experience working with investment funds
• Advanced technical knowledge of IFRS accounting standards
• Solid understanding of crypto concepts, including blockchains, DeFi, GameFi, NFTs, and tokenized assets
• Excellent command of English, both verbal and written
• Experience with group accounting 
• Team player with a flexible, no 9-5 mentality
• Hardworking, reliable, and trustworthy

Additional qualifications

• Experience with accounting for foundations
• Interest in gaming, including web3 gaming experience
• Experience with crypto sub-ledgers
• Familiarity with Xero and other ERP systems
• Experience with corporate governance
• Operates most days of the year on or close to CET timezone
