This role will be integral for R&D and expanding the capabilities of the Avalanche ecosystem. It's an exciting time to join a world-class team and get the opportunity to work under the direction of a founding member and published blockchain leader within Ava Labs. 

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Collaborate with C-Level technical teams to build proof of concept (POC) features/products while executing the R&D team’s vision 
• Cutting-edge protocol and VM research (applied)
• Design new concepts based on research findings
• Contribute clean/elegant code while developing components for high-visibility projects 
• Ensure quality of new concepts via unit testing & continuous integration design

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science 
• 3 to 8 years of professional development experience
• Proficiency in Rust 
• Experience designing/developing complex systems and full cycle development 
• Understanding of Go
• Experience with distributed systems, asynchronous event processing and/or concurrent programming
• Strong understanding of virtual machines (bonus points if you have knowledge of blockchain based virtual machines)
• Experience with low level execution environments for smart contracts
• Experience with unit testing (TDD)
• Nice to have skills: C/C++, scripting automation (Shell, Bash and/or Python), continuous integration, infrastructure/systems engineering
