The Role: Researcher

Oceans is seeking talented candidates in Sri Lanka to become Researchers .

Responsibilities:

Research and Writing

• Research and draft in depth research articles on web3 technologies.
• Learn complex web3 topics and monitor the wider web3 and crypto ecosystem.
• Draft investor letters based on each hedge fund’s performance.

Trade Operations (Hedge Fund)

• Book all completed spot and derivatives trades conducted with OTC desks and trades on DeFi platforms i.e. oversee and take care of all back-end trade processing.
• Monitor and coordinate with the traders and OTC desks on all types of settlements related to derivatives and spot trading.
• Monthly trading reconciliation of OTC and DeFi data.
• Monthly coordination with fund admin on all trade activity.
• Compute the NAV/monthly returns for benchmarking i.e. for marketing purposes, investor relations, and internal fund targets.
• Basic coding knowledge to handle minor tasks when developers require, for the in-house portfolio management platform and DeFi trading activity.
• Handling audit related queries.

VC Operations

• Handle trade ops similar to the hedge fund if and when portco tokens are hedged/sold.
• Handling audit related queries.

Fundraising/IT/General Ops

• Onboarding of the hedge fund onto various platforms (exchanges, OTC desks,
• clearing agents, etc.)
• Handle all LP inbound interest and subsequent subscriptions into the firm’s funds.
• Coordinate with fund admin and legal officer on all LP subscriptions.
• Handle employee onboarding/offboarding.
• Handle firmwide IT security systems and quarterly IT requirements processes.
• Develop and handle all automations related to cross platform processes in place for Fundraising, Marketing, IT Security, Trade Confirmations.

Requirements:

• A bachelor’s degree in Finance or any related field.
• A minimum of 4+ years exposure in a Researcher or a similar role.
• knowledge in Decentralised Finance (DeFi) and accompanying trading systems/technologies and strategies will be a plus.
• Understand derivatives contracts and trading of options, forwards, etc.
• Understanding the cryptocurrency ecosystem would be an added advantage.
• Excellent skills in research and writing.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills
• Professional fluency in English, with superb communication skills.(reading, writing, speaking)
