Smashverse is looking for an experienced Lead Gameplay Programmer to join our team. We’re a fast growing company that is looking to invent a new genre of games and make our mark within the industry. We thrive on creativity and autonomy and are focused on building games that can stand the test of time. Roles are typically full-time salaried position and offer generous incentive packages so the entire team benefits greatly as the company grows.

What will you do?

  • Create, test, and iterate new game-mechanic functionality for combat, characters, cameras and controls
  • Developing game elements specifically: physics and network functionality
  • Work with the Game Director and Lead Game Designer to create technical requirements and hiring roadmaps
  • Set best coding practises that others can follow
  • Suggest and implement improvements for performance and reliability
  • Write and maintain technical documentation
  • Research new tools, techniques and processes
  • Debugging and optimising the games' performance and memory
  • Programming in a structured, clear manner that is in keeping with the constraints inherent to platforms
  • Build and manage a team of coders

What are we looking for?

  • 6+ years experience across multiple projects including 1+ year as a Lead Gameplay Programmer
  • 1+ year of live game and or free-to-play experience
  • Ability to prototype as well as produce final code
  • Previously worked on a combat game
  • Managed a team of developers
  • Able to create technical and hiring roadmaps
  • Desire to contribute to the growth of the overall studio. Someone that wants to make the leap to becoming a senior leader within a studio.
  • Willing to proactively contribute to new ideas, able to give and receive feedback, foresee challenges before they occur (within reason!) and enjoys building an exciting and inclusive working environment
  • Willingness to take initiative and responsibility to ensure the quality of the game is not compromised
  • Worked across all life cycles of game development (concept, pre-production, production, live)

Additional skills/experience?

  • Experience working on PvP and PvE combat games
  • Experience working across different time zones

Who will you report to?

You will report directly to the Founder of the Studio (Game Director)
