Head of Engineering - Blockchain

Career Renew is recruiting for one of its clients a Head of Engineering - Blockchain - this is a hybrid role in Tokyo, Japan.

We are a decentralized identity network that connects professionals with work opportunities and fosters professional connections. As a zero-to-one startup, we are revolutionizing the way professionals manage their digital identities and find work.

Position Overview: We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Head of Engineering to join our team and eventually grow into the role of Chief Technology Officer (CTO).

The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, experience in leading engineering teams, and a passion for blockchain technology. You will work closely with the CEO on idea generation, prototyping, and managing a team of offshore developers. This is an opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the company.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work directly with the CEO on idea generation and rapid prototyping to more firmly establish product market fit
• Define the technical vision and strategy of the product and company.
• Lead and manage the engineering team, including offshore developers, ensuring high-quality code and timely delivery.
• Oversee the development and implementation of new features, from ideation to deployment.
• Build scalable and secure solutions, ensuring the highest level of quality and performance.
• Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends to continuously improve the platform.
• Develop and maintain a robust and scalable architecture for our platform.
• Participate in hiring and mentoring new engineering team members as the company grows.

Based in Tokyo and happy to work in the office 2 days a week

Prior experience as a tech lead or senior engineer leading a team of min 2-3 engineers

Hands-on coding experience with Typescript, Node.js and Solidity

Prior experience in web3 (Ideally with credentials or identity protocols, please specify if they have this exp)

Experience working in an early stage start up
