What We Do

In 2019, we began with the debut of Fuel V1, our first major step toward enhancing Ethereum’s scalability, and since then we've grown to offer a complete Rollup Operating System. We create innovative technologies like the Fuel Virtual Machine, and Sway—a programing language designed specifically for blockchains—that together form a robust environment for developers, with relentless focus on usability. These tools are part of our commitment to optimize and expand Ethereum's potential, for all its users.

Who We Are

The team comprises 75 professionals, including builders formerly from well-known Web3 organizations such as Consensys, Polygon, Polkadot and Ethereum. Our contributors works remotely, hailing from diverse locations globally, and we value curiosity, passion, and accountability in our collaborative efforts.

About This Role

We are looking for a passionate and experienced Head of Blockchain Security to join our team. The successful candidate will define, implement, and drive blockchain network security policies throughout the organization.

The successful candidate will work effectively with vendors, our technology team, auditors, and other critical stakeholders to define policies, manage risks, ensure compliance, and contribute to the company's IT security practices.

This is a hands-on role that requires previous experience in Web3 and distributed organizations.

The ideal candidate will be critical in driving security plans and practices while collaborating with our CEO, COO, CTO, Head of Product, and technical leadership. 

• Own the security of all technologies, protocols, and products developed by Fuel
• Develop and enforce comprehensive app-sec policies tailored to Fuel’s needs
• Understand the moderation blockchain technology landscape, and the classes of threats it is exposed to
• Hiring and building a world-class blockchain security team inside Fuel
• Establish policies for managing and securing various credentials and other key technology assets
• Identify potential risk vectors and conduct regular risk assessments
• Define network crisis plans and lead the organization's network crisis management if a security incident occurs
• Oversee the company’s audit, bug bounty, and attackathon processes and monitor designated security communication channels
• Work with leadership to define and manage on-going security budgets, projections and costs, including auditors and bug bounties
• As needed, ensure we adhere to regulatory requirements like SOC2, GDPR, and similar standards
• Build the proper configuration of vendors, new team members, and existing team members to cover the above and other security needs

• Proven experience in a senior security management role
• Deep understanding of security protocols, crisis and risk management, cryptography, decentralized networking, and key management solutions
• Experience in threat modeling, red/blue team attacks, and driving research findings into actual deployed fixes
• Experience with IT infrastructure, cloud platforms, DevSecOps and vendor management
• Familiarity with compliance and regulatory frameworks (e.g., NIST, SOC2, GDPR)
• Excellent communication and leadership skills

• Has significant experience in Web3
• Can simplify complex concepts into understandable ideas
• Is effective at communicating clear goals and strategies, rallying the team, partners, and customers around shared objectives
• Is dedicated to mentoring and supporting team development
