The Role

This Executive Director will build the WalletConnect Foundation together with the Foundation Board, which will comprise of 5 Directors: 3 full-time Executives (Pedro Gomes (WalletConnect’s Founder), Yessin (recently hired CFO) and this Executive Director role), plus a Cayman-based Non-Executive Director and limited-capacity Non-Executive Director.  

The ideal candidate has business and go-to-market (GTM) experience in a COO, VP of Ops, or Head of BD role within a web3 foundation and understands decentralized governance, token-holder communities and developer communities. 

You will expand the WCF reach and partnerships in the crypto space. If you have a strong interest in crypto and are ready to take on various tasks, you’ll work with the founders to drive growth, establish strategic partnerships, and support the mission to build a leading blockchain ecosystem globally.

Role Responsibilities:

• Lead the strategic direction of the Foundation in partnership with the Founder, driving growth of the WalletConnect Ecosystem and Community.
• Oversee key functions including Operations, HR, Strategy, Business Development, Ecosystem & Community Management and Marketing.
• Represent the Foundation at conferences, industry events, and in the media, acting as a key spokesperson and face of the organization alongside Pedro and Yessin.
• Support the Foundation on its collaboration with WalletConnect Inc. Advise on and execute strategic initiatives, ensuring alignment with the Foundation's mission to build and transition decentralize governance to stakeholders.
• Prepare for and participate in Foundation board meetings, ensuring thorough preparation and effective decision-making.
• Facilitate ecosystem introductions and stakeholder engagement to drive community growth and engagement. Oversee and manage external vendors, outsourced teams, and agencies until internal scaling is feasible.

• 5+ years of experience in managing operations and developing GTM strategies within a web3 foundation or web3/crypto/blockchain startup in an executive leadership role (e.g., CEO, COO, VP of OPs, Head of BD, Founder, Co-Founder).
• Experience in managing strategy, operations, sales, partnerships, marketing/PR, and HR/recruitment. Background in managing and onboarding agencies, outsourced teams, and partnerships.
• Deep understanding of blockchain technology and the crypto market, including decentralized governance and tokenomics.
• Commercial acumen and proven experience identifying and forming strategic partnerships.
• Demonstrated leadership with a service-oriented mindset, high empathy, and strong communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.
• Willingness to travel at least 25% for speaking engagements, industry events, and press opportunities.
