Who Are You?
The Engineering Manager is responsible for managing a team of experienced full stack and smart contract engineers. The Engineering Manager is a highly skilled engineer, extremely organized, and a demonstrated leader. They are an experienced and motivational manager who will be responsible for partnering with the CTO to lead all aspects of the design and development of our software. A background in an Agile software development environment is preferred.
You will manage a team of 10 skilled engineers who deliver a variety of exciting projects in the cryptocurrency space. The team prides themselves on being passionate about their work, holding themselves and each other accountable, always asking the hard questions and pushing boundaries, and showing kindness and respect to all people.
You, the Engineering Manager, have a passion for building scalable, clean APIs and delightful frontends on cloud infrastructure and in the browser. You’re a creative thinker and analytical problem solver who is inspired by the opportunity to contribute to building new startups and products, and unafraid to push the boundaries of what is possible with technology. You possess a deep mastery of other open source technologies that power the web.
Importantly, at Decent Labs, you’ll grow as a leader and developer as you drive the execution of complex development roadmaps from inception to deployment.
Responsibilities
- Manage, mentor, and grow a team of engineers
- Overall planning, execution, and success of technical projects
- Design, scope, and estimate complex applications at the feature level
- Identify and implement team-wide areas of improvement and best practices
- Collaborate with the team and cross-functional partners on all aspects of product development
Requirements
- 8+ years of industry experience in software engineering
- 2+ years of hands-on technical leadership and people management experience
- Solid understanding and appreciation for clean, scalable architecture
- Experience with Node.js, React, and database design
- Mastery of designing APIs and building scalable RESTful services
- Ability to quickly iterate on and ship code using test-driven development patterns
- Mastery of CSS, preferably via a library like TailwindCSS
- A passion for learning and mentoring, and self-awareness of how you learn best
