Capital6 is the family office of Peter Vessenes, which 1) forms and incubates Web3/blockchain companies; 2) oversees investments in traditional private equity, the permissionless future, and arts and culture; and 3) manages philanthropic endeavors.

The family office is a flat hierarchical structure composed of a small group of highly efficient individuals that create a tight-knit crew of wonderful people that are also really good at what they do. The majority of the team is located in the Seattle area.

ABOUT PETER VESSENES

Peter Vessenes is a serial entrepreneur and crypto pioneer. He founded the first VC-backed Bitcoin company in 2011 and invented the structure that allowed Bitcoin to organize (The Bitcoin Foundation) among other things. Through his family office and venture capital firm, Peter continues to invent, incubate, and invest in highly disruptive web3/blockchain startups. Most recently, Peter co-founded Noteworthy (https://noteworthy.ag/), a manufacturer of nation state-grade Bitcoin banknotes, and Lamina1 (https://www.lamina1.com/), a layer1 blockchain enabling an open metaverse.

POSITION SUMMARY

Capital6 is searching for its next Chief of Staff for its Founder, Peter Vessenes. The Chief of Staff provides comprehensive leadership and support to the Founder while serving as an integral part of the executive office and organization. The mission of the role is to make the Founder as effective as possible, using his time in highest and best use areas, and ensuring successful outcomes for the office and its portfolio companies.

This is a senior-level position working in direct partnership with experienced executives. The ideal candidate possesses strong business acumen, critical thinking and problem solving, and the ability to serve as proxy to the Founder to ensure alignment and accountability across several endeavors.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Chief of Staff’s responsibilities will encompass three primary areas:

• Ensure Founder’s time is allocated toward highest and best use areas in partnership with the Executive Assistant
• Identify and build better systems and processes to elevate executive office staff to critical thinking, analysis and problem solving; lean on tools and technology for greater efficiency and consistency

• Manage an experienced Executive Assistant who handles a variety of personal and professional administrative tasks
• Delegate or do a variety of tasks related to the Office’s day-to-day operations

• Conduct a variety of business formation tasks from contracting and legal to early operational plans and resourcing of new startup ventures
• Carry out various legal transactions, if qualified, including buying and selling stock and buying and selling companies; partner with outside counsel on specialty transactions, such as regulatory matters
• Determine potential partners and investors on private equity deals, as needed
• Serve as sounding board to Founder on new business ideas; assess feasibility, access to capital, business model, market analysis, etc.
• Be an accountability partner to company leaders on behalf of the Founder; ensure alignment and success toward outcomes; provide regular updates and insights to the Founder, as needed
• Ensure Office’s philanthropic giving is properly tracked and recorded for accounting purposes

• Serve as a proxy to the Founder by providing exceptional internal and external communications across a variety of stakeholders, from startup leaders to outsourced business partners and potential investors; represent the Founder with the right mix of tact and tone
• Manage correspondence to and from startup leaders and other staff; ensure the Founder is only brought in to matters when necessary
• Establish regular communication cadences with appropriate stakeholders to ensure proactivity in addressing potential issues, fostering collaboration, and maintaining alignment with organizational objectives

• At least 8-10 years’ professional work experience; experience and success in venture capital, private equity, turnarounds, startups, and/or family offices is a strong plus
• Juris Doctor (JD) strongly preferred for transactional work, including business formation
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to interact with the highest level of leadership and build rapport with internal and external partners
• Solid business acumen; ability to understand key leadership and managerial attributes to lead projects from end-to-end with multiple stakeholders involved
• Self-starter and quick learner with a sense of urgency and ability to see tasks to completion
• Consistent temperament with the ability to remain calm in dynamic, startup environments
• Strong project management skills with experience managing complex cross-functional projects, including developing, coordinating, and communicating project plans and deliverables in an effective manner
• Ability to understand and anticipate the needs of an individual and act on them without direction
• Strong knowledge of operational systems, structures, and ways of working with a collective team and executive office

SALARY 

Compensation based on an annual salary range of $175K - $250K (dependent on years of experience)

This position can be filled either on a fractional or full-time basis, though someone who is committed to a longer-term position is preferred. The Founder seeks candidates who possess a strong curiosity and passion for the work and are ready to serve as a trusted right-hand partner to a serial entrepreneur.
